MY TOP SEVEN SOURCES OF INSPIRATION

PreviousNext

79ideas_inspiration_postAre you a visual person or you prefer reading more? I admit that I’m a strong visual person and I’m constantly looking for inspiration even when I’m walking on the street. And yes, I admit that I buy magazines mostly because of the pictures. The other day I wrote a post on my photography blog about how important it is to stay positive and received very nice comments and e-mails (thank you for that) and decided to move the discussions here and to ask you where you find inspiration. Because for me to stay positive and to find inspiration is critical.

79ideas_inspiration_flowers
Let me start first and here are my 7 sources of inspiration and I would love you to share your favorite with me too.

79ideas_graphic_magazines
I love magazines. And one of my favorite is Cereal. And I’m so happy that I can enjoy browsing through their pictures even here in the USA. Kinfolk and the American Vogue are also beautiful and interesting.  Before I was reading also Elle Decoration UK, but I can’t find it easily here. Now your turn, which one are your favorite?
79ideas_graphic_pinterest
It became a huge and powerful tool. Not only can I make my own inspirational board, but I use it when I work with clients and in a secret boards we share pictures and ideas that inspire us. Do you use pinterest? Here is my collection.

79ideas_graphic_tumblr
I love this microblogging platform. The main idea here is that you rely on the personal taste of the Tumblr blogger who arranges pictures. My most favorite ones are:
Convoy – Absolutely amazing pictures.
Batixa – we share almost the same interior taste.
Northern Thoughts – gorgeous taste
All white – where everything is white
Brown dress with white dots – where everything is brown and moody

79ideas_graphic_books
Oh yes, I can buy a book just because of the beautiful cover. Actually right now I’m finishing the small book by Austin Kleon “Steal like an artist”. I will tell you about this book soon, because I think that it deserves more attention. Also recently I bought the Gwyneth Paltrow book “It’s all good” because of the fantastic photography by the talented Ditte Isager.

79ideas_graphic_photography

Other photographers’ websites – I can’t mention all of them but here are some of my favorite: Ditte Isager / did I mention this Danish girl yet /, Nicole Franzen, Kristofer Johansson, Ben Sasso, Nadia Meli and so one..

79ideas_graphic_instagram

Instagram – it became a very powerful social network. It is a great tool for inspiration if you are searching for patterns, interesting spots around the city. You can see my favorite Instagrammers here.

79ideas_graphic_movies
This is also huge source of inspiration and I love watching classical movies and Sofia Coppola. I think you can learn a lot about composition and creating frames from them.

79ideas_inspiration_post_detail
And at the end one bonus: a simple walk with the camera in your hand. I even challenged myself to take the simplest camera that I have (usually this is the funny Polaroid Pic-300 ), experiment with manual lens… or just something that can make me thing in a different way – I even drew a poster the other day. Usually these pictures are part of my Project 2015, where I try to shoot and share one picture every day during the year – and this picture is not for client or a project – it is just for me.
What are your other sources of inspiration?

    Hello, dear Radostina,

    This is a great post, as usually! My inspiration depends on interest, sometimes it’s a book, sometimes something visual. Of all social networks I love Flickr the most, maybe because it’s the first network I signed up to. I like Pinterest, but sometimes it takes so much time, Instagram is new to me and I’m still learning, and I love books and magazines of course. Music is a great inspiration, too.

    Have a lovely day and stay positive!

    Best regards,
    Vanya

      Hey Vanya,
      Thank you for your comment. I admit that I’m trying with Flickr, but I still doesn’t understand how it works. :) And ah, yes… the music :)

    Other people inspire me a lot. By talking to my friends and sometimes even strangers they bring me to think about stuff I haven’t thought about before. Human beings are pretty good inspirations too :) Thanks for all your tips!

    I’m a pretty energetic and active person, some people in my family joke I can’t sit still because of my half-German grandma’s genes which made her “work and order” all the time. But there are times when I need to do nothing, just relax and be with myself, fill my eyes with beauty and my mind with peace. And that’s what I find in your blog. :) Thank you so much, Radostina!

    I am an incredibly visual person. I find a lot of inspiration in details of nature…it’s a Georgia O’Keeffe thing. I even purchase things, like wine, based on the packaging & labels. Your photos are beautiful!

    Здравей, Радостина,
    Освен 79 ideas, сутрин “разлиствам” още няколко:
    http://thegiftsoflife.tumblr.com/ – това място е много мое, много истинско!
    http://ohjoy.blogs.com/my_weblog/page/1/ – прекрасно и почти по детски цветно;
    http://www.novate.ru/blogs/category/life/
    и
    http://design-milk.com/ – източници на безкрайни хрумки;

    И някои кулинарни:
    http://www.tasteofbeirut.com/ – този Бейрут ми е нещо като “побратимен” град;
    http://cartooncooking.blogspot.bg/2010/12/tikvenik.html – тази рисувачка на вкусни рецепти, вече с няколко книги зад гърба си;

    Момичетата от Париж, които напоследък се комерсиализираха, но когато рекламите са повече, и картинките са достатъчни – http://www.mylittleparis.com/
    И Момичетата от града, които те карат понякога да спреш и да се замислиш – http://www.momichetataotgrada.com/

    Последната колекция на YSL – http://www.ysl.com/corporate/saint-laurent-at-palladium/

    Малки истории за града, които напоследък са все по-рядки: http://malkiistorii.blogspot.bg/

    Разни блогове със стари снимки на София, както и ентусиастки такива като: https://www.facebook.com/knowSofia/?fref=ts

    Също обичам списания, но обожавам старите – разни Бурди, огромни немски каталози, донесени някога от чужбина, пълни с безкрайни страници облекла, бижута и часове реене назад във времето…

    Събирам всякакви Коледни истории и не пропускам изгрева.

First post for the new 2021 - the year that we put First post for the new 2021 - the year that we put so much hope in it. 🤍
I usually don’t like new years resolutions, but every year I choose one word that will be significant for me and while the word for the 2020 was education, in 2021 I want to focus more on connection.
For quite amount of time I was always scared to connect with new people - worried about my accent, my writing to not bother people... and this year I want to overcome this fear and sincerely connect with you.
So here I go - I say that loud and now I have to achieve that. :)
And with that being said - what is your word for 2021?
