Bring the Sea in Your Home ♥

PreviousNext

There’s no way for me not missing the sea when the summer comes  – I was born and raised near the sea and one of my most happiest moments in life were connected with it. If you are like me – located far away from the beach (I’m almost in the middle of Europe and there is no sign of salty water in radius of 1000km) and you miss it – I can offer you a way how to create this coastal feeling in your home.

Most important is to pay attention to the details. For example a big decorative anchor, if you are lucky enough to find a real one it will be even better, or a small wooden boat is also a very emblematic element. For sure the cheaper things will be corals, stones and everything natural that you can find on the beach. Also clam shells on a string is a great idea. And don’t forget the fish – any porcelain figure or even fish shaped plates could help here. In the kitchen it is better everything to be colored in white and blue.

Also an important detail for me personally is an old map. You can use it as a decoration in many many ways, but my favorite one is the classic map on the wall. To finish the sea touch you have to pay attention to the textile too – it is better to be simple and in those colors – white and navy blue that we already mentioned.
So if you are really interested in this coastal style I really recommend you to visit “A Beach Cottage” blog, where you can find more great ideas and inspiration.

I too miss the sea (being from New Zealand and living in Germany). I find a lot of the coastal decor a bit kitsch and over the top but you have once again selected beautiful interiors that reflect the coastal feel without being contrived.

This is the second largest island in the Bay and has many stories to tell. Most of them - probably not so happy. The island was used as an immigration station where officials detained, inspected and examined approximately one million immigrants. Many people primarily from Asia, have to spend here months waiting for the heir immigration status.
