Homemade Hot Wine ♥

PreviousNext

If you ask someone here in the Czech Republic what is the smell to associate with Christmas for sure they will answer with the svařak (hot wine). Christmas was few weeks ago but I am still receiving questions from you for the recipe of hot wine. Here is the Czech version which I tried and I like it a lot.

In a small iron pot put the sugar with the water to heat up and separately in a bigger pot warm up the wine. When the water and the sugar are mixed well and just before it to become brown and to start caramelizing, add there the spices with the lemon and stir up for 3-4 minutes. After this add the mixture in the hot wine and serve while hot in beautiful glasses.
