Basoli’s Alphabet

PreviousNext

The year is 1839 and the city is Bologna, Italy the decorative artist Antonio Basoli publishes his “Pictorial Alphabet or a collection of pictorial thoughts composed of objects beginning with the individual letters of the alphabet”. This was an album of twenty-five lovely lithographs, each one featuring an alphabetical character cast in some fantastic architectural form.

I truly admire this art created so many years ago and I think it attracts attention even nowadays.
