ROSE FESTIVAL

PreviousNext
Maybe one of the most beautiful festivals is the Rose Festival in Bulgaria. It is held annually in the Rose Valley. For a long time I dreamt of going there but I never had the chance until this year.

Today I came back from a lovely trip on which I met dear friends, I saw many beautiful places, I ate cherries directly from the tree and I visited the village of Gorno Izvorovo were the roses grow. With many songs and dances the festival guides you through the traditions of rose-picking, which are then used to produce the legendary aromatic rose oil.

Near the main stage of the festival I meat an authentic, real rose-picker lady. She was working so fast with her hands and I made her a compliment about her speed. She then replied that she is slow now because she is old so I can’t even imagine how it was when she was young. She said that her hands smell like roses few weeks after they finish with picking the roses. I am sorry I couldn’t stay to talk more with her, she was so kind and… real.

I will do my best to go there again and I recommend you to do so too if you ever have a chance.
