Fantastic idea!!! Right now I'm fighting with the shelves in my office, they look always so messy… So I'm copying the idea!!!

Thank God my nightmare is over!! ahaha My bookshelf are a mess you are my salvation ;) It's a simple and easy solution, WHY I DIDN'T THINK IN THIS???!!!
Oh and I can't wait to see the DIY tutorial ;) -
hello lua, i feel the same way like you.

oh, yes so simply and pretty idea and I was also wondering how is posible to not discover it myself. have a great day.

What I did when I had 100s of novels was the ones I had read I turned so that the pages showed instead of the titles. Then when it was time to donate them it was easy to see which ones to box up. Now I read on a Kindle.

This is a GREAT way to never find any of your books again. :) Another option is to arrange your books by cover color (blues, reds, whites, blacks), and then segment them that way. I have a bookcase with square sections, and have organized my books like this in each square — it looks great.

I'm with you Sandy! Much nicer than seen beige pages!

The value of books is in their reading. How can you find a book you want to read when their covers are hidden? If you're interested in color design rather than what's inside, donate you books to people who read and fill your shelves with nic-nacs

Great idea if you only want to have books to show that you own books as opposed to having books for reading.

This has to be the least efficient design idea I have ever seen. When I saw this post in my feed, I had to wonder if you were actually serious. I get wanting everything to coordinate, but if having more than a few color tones on your bookshelf bothers you enough to turn them all the wrong way round so you never find one to read again, maybe you should just sell your books and use the money to buy a cute little e-reader in the appropriate tone.
-
Just another smart idea: Ban your books from your home, so you will not be bothered any more by their presence!
-
That's a great idea, Suzetta. I'm also using e-reader and for the rest I always make a custom design white cover in white only with the name of the book.

Oh, I tried this idea Sandy, but it didn't work well for me. I'm happy that it worked out well for you. The most important thing is that you like your own bookshelf yourself, no matter what the others think.

Love this kind of deco looks so delicate and smells like… comfy

I love the diferrent colours, sizes, shapes, ages and everything of my books. Right now I'm organizing them by author name (just because I'm a little bit on the maniac-obsessive side). I have absolutely no idea why someone would do this… Why spend money on books when you just decorate your home with phone books or ikea and La Redoute cathalogues? Christ…

I'm sorry, but the different-colored "mish mash" bothers me much less than not being able to see what the book is without removing it from the shelf. Also, the discolored pages look worse to me.
-
Great! Now, how do you find your book??
-
Great idea, I also live the art on your wall
-
Agreed. I actually rather like the mish mash of covers all jumbled together because it matters more to me that they are sorted by author then that they are sorted by color. A shelf full of books looks wonderful to me. Like a lovely old painting that might not match the room but gives it character.

As an artist I find the lack of color depressing and cold. Life should be vibrant and warm and inviting. I'd be afraid to sit on your couch.
